   Arrived in Newark, New Jersey, from St. John’s, Newfoundland via Toronto. We precleared U.S. Customs in Toronto, before having a light lunch. The scheduled two hour layover was a bit longer since the plane to Newark was 30 minutes late leaving. This was  due to low cloud in the New York area, from where the plane came, as well as getting into the Toronto take-off line to depart.  The flight only took 70 minutes to Newark and, once landed, it took 40 minutes for ground crews to clear planes from the route to the Terminal A gate for our flight.  
     When we landed in Newark the temperature was about 22°C (73°F) and the cloud was very low.
     The luggage was being deposited onto the luggage carousal within fifteen minutes of the pane doors opening at Gate 11 in Terminal A. We navigated our way to find the monorail to take us from Terminal A, through Terminals B and C to parking lot 4 to catch the Hampton Inn shuttle bus to the hotel about six minutes away. The short drive from the airport to the hotel was partly on the New Jersey Turnpike. We arrived in our room at 7 p.m. on the clock-radio, only 30 minutes since we had picked up our luggage. 
    We are staying nearby in Elizabeth, New Jersey, for two nights until boarding the Celebrity Summit at the Port of Cape Liberty for a Canada New England 14 day cruise. 
    We were hungry since we had only a light snack in Toronto and it was 8:30 p.p. in Newfoundland, from where we had come.  After a detour we went next door to the Hilton and had a pasta dish and a risotto in the sports bar.

    This morning was a nice 17 °C, under a sky with lots of clouds.  The ship was cruising in the St. Lawrence River passing  the Montmorency Falls as we walked on Deck 4 on our way to breakfast in the dining room. About 45 minutes later it was  docked in Québec City. We walked on Deck 11 as the crew tied up the ship to the dock. We remained in Québec City until late afternoon the next day.  We had been looking forward to the bicycle tour to the  Montmorency Falls but it was cancelled for lack of people. The replacement tour that we chose was “ The Beaupré Coast and Ste. Anne Canyon and Winery ”.       There was a half hour delay to clear the documentation for passengers to leave the ship.  There were up to 12 groups of 30 or so people waiting to go out on their excursion who were waiting in the Celebrity Theater. There were two gangways being used to quickly get people on their way....

      Yesterday was the last of the warm days.  The next four days are predicted to have high temperatures of 11 °C to 14 °C and a chance of some rain each day.  The morning brought an overcast sky and a temperature of 8°C in  La Baie one of the three major settlements of the  Saguenay combination which includes Chicoutimi, Jonquière along with four smaller towns and their surrounding service areas. Early this morning before sunrise the ship entered the 91 kilometer long Saguenay Fjord having travelled about 200 kilometers downstream from Québec City. La Baie is located on the shores of Ha! Ha! Bay. The name comes from the sight of the bay by settlers who were awe struck by its natural beauty (Aaw! Aaw!, as in Wow!)  The  Saguenay  region’s main industries are aluminium manufacturing and logging.  Natural areas abound, from the Parc National du Fjord-du-Saguenay to the east, featuring  1,150-foot-high...

    Another cool morning of about 10°C as the ship docked at Sydney, Nova Scotia. On the pier, just beside the ship, is the iconic 20 meter Big Fiddle of the Ceilidh, officially named  Fidheal Mhor A’ Ceilidh . After breakfast we hurried to the Visitor Center to update the blog and post pictures, before a lot of people arrived and slowed down the complimentary Wi-Fi.  The pictures were loaded at a pace of nine per minute. While we were loading photos, a couple from the Seabourn ship that was cruising from London, England to New York, noticed Larry’s San Diego Padres hoodie. They were from San Diego. During the conversation they offered to send us some information about what to see and where to stay, the next time we visited San Diego (next spring).
